Trial Kennedy (Pelly Bar)

With Supports The Diecasts, The 540 Project & Ashleigh Rae

For all their musical chops, as songwriters, Trial Kennedy have that rare economy of craft, a skilled grasp of dynamic and light ’n’ shade, and never get bogged down in self-indulgence. Even the album title comes with its own ambiguities and multiplicity of meaning. Taken on its own, the phrase suggests a free-thinking, unencumbered approach to life and creativity, which any artist can relate to. But literally, “Living Undesigned refers to the chemical oxytocin that’s produced organically in the human brain when listening to music,” explains Morrison. “So we figured that’s a damn good name for a song and an album, right there.”

The band is also revelling in their newfound liberation in being independent again. “This time around, every decision – from the single, the artwork, the arrangements – has been completely ours,” says Morrison.

The Amity Affliction

With Supports - Driven To The Verge, Sleeping With The Enemy, City Of Sirens & Asperity Within

Behind the cheeky song names and party atmosphere the guys carry around on tour, The Amity Affliction is a band with a message and a story. In a recent blog to fans Joel Birch explained a lot of the album – about the struggles of the past year in the lead up to it’s release, and always delivering the positive message that no one is alone, and everything is fixable. The entire album is delivered in the same tone from the opening track “I Hate Hartley” and its gang chant of “I Won’t Die Defeated” right down to the finale “F... The Yankees” – which Birch offers as a thankyou to his mother for all she’s given him. The music and the message are both delivered with impact and experience – this is a band full of people who have fought for everything they have, and a band of people who are encouraging young people to do the same.

In a day and age where few heavy bands of any substance cross over to a greater audience, The Amity Affliction are using their voices to deliver a message as powerful as their music.

Children Collide

Sword To A Gunfight Tour

Children Collide are back in full force with a brand new single ‘SWORD TO A GUNFIGHT’ unleashed on radio, internet and TV today, Monday 16 January. In true Collide fashion, the band will embark on a tour across the country in March/April giving audiences their first taste of the new album.

Frontman Johnny Mackay expounds on the new single: “I was paddling down the river somewhere between Primal Scream & Boney M and ended up falling out of the boat into a time-travelling disco space-punk song which I still think is hilarious.”

Late 2011, the band locked themselves away in Melbourne’s Red Door Sounds with Woody Annison (Red Riders, Cabins, Young Revelry and who also co-produced their sophomore album) to record their third album ‘MONUMENT’.

‘MONUMENT’ is the follow up album to the ARIA nominated Top 5 album ‘Theory Of Everything’ which spawned the singles JELLYLEGS (reached #22 in The Triple J Hottest 100) and LOVELESS, which was accompanied by a world class music video directed by the multi-award winning director David Michôd (Animal Kingdom) and also Nominated for an ARIA Award.

The Getaway Plan

With Special Guest 'Gatherer' & Local Supports While The City Sleeps & E A R L

January 18 - It was a special start to 2012 as The Getaway Plan spent NYE playing their third slot on Pyramid Rock Festival. Now as they prepare for their second stint on the Big Day Out national touring bill, they will also take time out of their already busy 2012 schedule with a suburban run in March.

Since the release of their long awaited sophomore album Requiem in November last year, The Getaway Plan have done their own capital cities headline tour and are now in the middle of an impressive festival run that will include Pyramid Rock, Big Day Out and Breathe Of Life festivals. Following the festivals, the band will finally get a chance to play their new album to fans in suburban and major regional centres.

With first single "The Reckoning" taking off at commercial radio, and Triple J spinning current single "Flying Colours" on rotation, it is an eventful time for the four-piece who recently reformed after a two year hiatus. Each show is over 18s with tickets on sale from Thursday 12th January at midday. Good friends and incredible rock band Gatherer will be main support on all shows, with locals chosen by the venues to be added to shows.

The Getaway Plan

Melbourne's progressive heavy music scene is in fine form in 2012 and how better to celebrate than to combine the force of three of its finest on an impressive triple bill. This March, longstanding genre leaders Twelve Foot Ninja and Jericco will be joined by newcomers, Circles on the national 'Swarm Tour'.

Twelve Foot Ninja suspected their live performance was sufficiently honed when they were invited to support international acts Periphery (US) and Tesseract (UK) last year, and prompted Periphery founder /guitarist Misha Mansoor to tweet jubilantly “Twelve Foot Ninja are basically one of the best live bands I have ever seen in my life.

Meanwhile, after three years together, 137 blistering live shows, 8 festival appearances and a stack of sold-out headlining gigs, alternative rock maestros Jericco are gearing up to offer their adoring fan base a taste of things to come.

Finally, relative newcomers Circles, will lend their unique take on progressive metal to the 'Swarm Tour' bill.

Don’t miss this phenomenal bill of Melbourne's finest as it rolls into your town this March.
